Educating Franka
or an approximation to Hölderlin's dream
Franka is a thirteen-year-old teenager who talks with her father about happiness. He does not find a better way to explain his thinking than to use the poetry of Friedrich Hölderlin to give advice to help him find a better life on the road to happiness in a bilingual dialogue (German-Spanish), understanding this as the state in which that the soul and the body reach their fullness.
Días de juerga
First edition Lima, April 2015 - Second edition Germany, December 2020
In "Días de juerga", Jorge Irribarren, with “dirty realism”, tells stories of young people from Lima with a wealthy life, who grow up in parallel, but who come together and move away between situations related to the revelry in the 2000s, together with remembrances from the 80s and 90s.
Irribarren has tried not only to narrate but to invite to feel. The reader will be able to relive the beginnings of electronic music, talking with the characters about their problems, frustrations and joys, having fun in bars, parties and discos between Lima, Madrid, Máncora, Ibiza and Amsterdam. Experiencing drinks, drugs, sex -explicitly narrated-, love and heartbreak ...
Another relevant point is the music: many scenes are related to a particular song.
"Do not forget that we are mainly souls, when they connect, body appearance is not important."
